Deviser is a guitar manufacturer in Japan that has the distinct history of making incredible acoustic and electric guitars and basses since the 1970s.
They have a lot of pride in their craftsmanship and make all their instruments by hand. No machines do the work.
Currently, there are essentially 5 different divisions of Deviser; Headway, Bacchus, STR, Seventy Seven and Momose.
We will gradually introduce each brand at different stages accordingly.
Here is a brief introduction of Deviser Co Ltd by the company itself:
“Deviser Co. Ltd and our main production base called Aska factory are located in Matsumoto, the city nestled between the Japanese Alps and Utsukushigahara heights.
Headway, the former company of Deviser started up in 1977 as a quest for second-to-none quality and world class tone. Since then we have been producing guitars of our own brands as well as OEM products of both domestic and overseas highend guitar brands for nearly 40 years.
In 1991, Headway created “Deviser,” our division of unique and very high-end original-series electric guitars, which eventually became the parent name for our company. Our motto was “devising the future,” hence the name “Deviser.”

Bacchus:
Since the establishment in 1994, Bacchus guitars have kept pursuing the best guitar building method with the principle of complete handcrafting.
Our target us to offer instruments with splendid tone and playability sought after by serious modern players. Well-balanced construction, great neck, creative tone and much more.
This can only be created by the hands of experienced luthiers who take great care and attention to every single detail from expertise accumulated over many years.
Bacchus brand offers a wide range of products, from entry model for the beginners to the high-end guitars for the most discriminating connoisseur guitarist.
Regardless of your budget, all Bacchus products are manufactured with an aim to provide players with excellent quality at an affordable price.
STR: Custom Shop + Sierra series
Custom Shop:
STR Guitars are created by Satoru Yatsuzuka, the master luthier at our Aska factory in Japan. It is the successor factory of our original Headway factory established in 1977.
We have been manufacturing both our own brands and OEM products of domestic and foreign high-end guitar makers for over 35 years, with the principle of complete handcrafting.
The factories have been renowned for high quality craftsmanship and exquisite level of detail in guitar building.
We started STR guitars in 2006 to embody Satoru’s relentless pursuit for creating instruments that surpasses the player’s imagination, built to the highest level of precision, quality, tone and with the best available material.
Satoru is deeply involved with every stage of the intricate manufacturing process from selection and processing of woods to setting up of the instruments.
Sierra Series:
STR Sierra line was started in 2015 to deliver the quality and craftsmanship of STR to a wider range of people with a more budget friendly price.
However the cost reduction is not equal to compromising quality. The tonewoods are seasoned for a moderately long time and precisely processed by hands of experienced luthiers as well as the ones used for customshop line.
We select the most reliable parts such as Gotoh hardware, Aguilar preamp, Mojotone pickup, Deviser parts developed by Deviser Co Ltd, the company STR team belongs to.
The Sierra models offers the tone and playability sought after by serious players.
